We were recently doing a review of the wilson combat grip module for the Sig Sauer p320 and the Holosun 507c v2 just died on us on the range. We were able to swap out batteries and the Holosun 507c v2 began working again. But about 10 shots later, the Holosun 507c v2 died once more. We then swapped out to get ANOTHER 1632 battery for the Holosun 507c v2 and it worked just fine.
I was curious if there was something wrong with the other two batteries but when I put them back in the gun, they both worked just fine. So it was a bit confusing. We continued to the shoot the rest of the day without incident.
I contacted Holosun about the issue we were having with our holosun 507c v2 and let them know we had experienced a few issues we hadn’t seen before with the optic. Holosun asked if we would do a warranty claim and send the optic in so they could take a look at it.
For timeline, I spoke to them on a thursday and they sent me the RMA form for my shipping label and I sent the optic out the same day. They received the optic the next week and informed me they had determined the optic required replacement. They offered me another 507c v2 or the new 507c X2. We opted to try out the new 507c X2.
In the box for the 507c X2, it contains all of the same items that were included in the 507c V2 we reviewed earlier. The instructions on the 507c X2 are very thorough and we actually realized the appropriate way to remove the battery tray.
*Hint: It’s not to bang it on your hand….
The 507c X2 has the same crisp reticle that we noted on the 507c V2. The holosun 507c X2 also has fantastic auto brightness and retains that added level of brightness that seems to have been added into from the 507c v2.
The main differences between the 507c x2 and the 507v2 is the button placement. The 507c X2 uses the v1 button placement and has the buttons placed horizontally along the housing. The 507c v2 had some larger buttons that were placed vertically. Now I really did prefer the 507c v2 vertical buttons but it really doesn’t matter much as once you set the optic brightness, you don’t really mess with it again.
The 507c X2 now has three modes, auto brightness, manual brightness, and lockout mode. The lockout mode allows you to set the designed brightness in the manual mode and then you can hold the + button for a few seconds. The optic then switches into the lockout mode where the buttons no longer change the brightness without changing the modes again.
I found this to be an absolutely fantastic features as I recommended to most people who used the 507c v2 to place the optic in manual mode. This was due to the challenge of being able to shoot from a dark area into a light area. The 507c v1 would always get washed out but the 507c v2 and 507c x2 didn’t suffer from the problem as badly.
The new lockout feature is fantastic because you can set a nice middle-tier brightness that works in both dark and light, then lock that brightness into place. Then you never have to worry about the optic accidently changing brightness or getting turned off.
