Taking a look at the Vortex AMG UH-1 we take it out of the box and see what all it comes with it.

Some of the most notable features is the absolutely ridiculous housing that comes with the Vortex UH-1. This thing is definitely tough. The optic itself also includes a QD mount which is very nice. The QD also has an adjustment screw so it can be fitted to rails that may vary from the standard width.

The optic also uses a CR123A battery and can also use a rechargeable battery. The side of the holographic optic has a USB charging port that can recharge a rechargeable battery easily.

One of the main selling points of this type of optic is that it is completely enclosed. So the optic will not be obscured by weather effects or any sort of debris, which makes it very useful in a wide array of environments.

This useful comes at a price though as the Vortex UH-1 has some significant weight. Combined with a magnifier like the Holosun HM3X, you’re at almost 23oz for your optics. This is tough pill to swallow when LPVO’s with significantly more zoom and function are only a few ounces more.

So if you’re looking to fun fast an light on your setup, this isn’t what you’re looking for.

The reticle has an amazing design that uses a outer ring that has a triangle located at the bottom of the ring and a red to in the center of the ring. The triangle is used to engage targets within 10 yards as it gives you the proper offset to account for the barrel height.

So with a reference point for all targets within 10 yards, you can use some smart zeros to have the Vortex Razor UH-1 do some real magic. By using a 50 yard zero (or 25….) you can give yourself a red dot that is zero’d at both 50 yards and 200 yards, giving you some significant range with a simple dot.

But you also have your triangle! So you can now engage targets up close with the triangle and then engage all other targets with the dot. Since you then used a smart zero, engaging targets at 300 to 400 yards is still very simple. You only need to adjust your reticle upward slightly on the target.

So this optic offers an an extremely robust and bomb proof design while also providing you with a reticle that allows you to engage targets from 0 to 400 yards with only two reference points.
