We start out by taking a close look at the Wilder Tactical Urban defender belt and what makes it different from other battle belts. The first thing I noticed was the thin profile. While some folks may want the most RIGID belt ever, this causes problems with varying body shapes and can make getting a secure connection troubling.

The Wilder Tactical belt uses a cobra 45 buckle so it has both the strength and a lightweight design you’d want in home defense style belt. The belt also ditches the traditional molle for a truly innovative design. The belt has one inch long segments that can have the pouches easily inserted.

This means you don’t have to weave your pouches in and out. Just slide the tabs in and screw them in place and your pouches are all set. It can be real bear to get a battle belt setup just perfect and it usually involves a lot of adjustment. This urban defender battle belt makes the whole process insanely easy.

Along with the cool glove clip that secures the excess belt material, it also includes a fold over inner belt. The inner belt has loop on the outside so it can interface with most other belts on the market. The inner belt is thinner than most inner belts but would still function perfectly as an EDC belt. As the inner belts get too thin, you start to lose this functionality.

Next, we setup the entire belt and I show you how to feed in the UBL mid-ride and how to get it set so it doesn’t flop around on the belt. We then connect up all of the pouches and try them out in the field.

My absolute favorite are the angled mag pouches. I didn’t realize just how much faster you could be with this style of pistol mag pouch. The Evolution Rotating Double Pistol Belt Mount also allows you rotate the pistol pouch in any direction you want. So it offers a ton of customization.

I have to say that I have never been faster on my reloads. And re-indexing is an absolute breeze.

The Wilder Tactical medical pouch also really impressed me. It was awesome to see their own medical kit that was put together and fits so nicely in their pouch.

From top to bottom, the guys over at Wilder Tactical rethought the battle belt design and improved it on every corner. I’ll stack this right next to my Ronin Senshi any day.
