The Olight PL-Pro Valkyrie is an EDC light that has 1500 lumens and has a reach of over 280 meters. The light uses a switch that is depressed from the side. You can press the buttons on either the left or the right side in order to engage the light also.
Looking at everything that comes with the light, it includes a wireless charger, a tool to change the adapter plate, and the 1911 adapter. The Glock adapter comes already installed on the light but you may need to change it to fit what you’re attaching it to.
Taking a look at the PL-Pro Valkyrie compared to the PL-2 Mini, we see that the PL-Pro is much larger. Obviously. But they both use the same QD that the entire team at Thin Line Defense loves. The PL-2 mini’s buttons are a bit different in that they press down to activate and the PL-Pro you depress from the side.
When you turn on the PL-Pro Valkyrie though it seems like you just turned on the power of the sun. It’s crazy the brightness they got into such a small flashlight.
NOTE: The light ships in lockout mode. You need to depress both side buttons to get it out of lock-out mode so it goes into the full 1500 lumen power.
Comparing the PL-Pro to the TLR-1 HL from Streamlight, they both have the same footprint and fit in the same holster pattern. The same safariland holster we use for the TLR-1 HL also fits the PL-Pro light pattern.
The TLR-1 uses standard AA batteries but the PL-Pro Valkyrie uses a rechargeable battery. The cable included also has an indicator to show if the light is fully charged or is still charging.
The TLR-1 HL connects via a screw that you rotate to tighten to the rail. The streamlight also has downward toggles on the side that rotate downward or you can press the tab all the way down to lock it into place. The PL-Pro has a quick disconnect on the top with the lever to quickly secure the light to any connection point. By having both buttons, it is able to easily actuate the light via your primary or support hand easily.
We took this light out at night to try it out and it was extremely bright. The strobe mode can be engaged by holding both the side buttons together. The strobe will certainly mess with you if you look at it! It’s pretty obvious that this light is just a few lumens short of the brightness of the sun! We were definitely impressed but this little guy.
