Esstac had only previously offered standard magazines in the past that weren’t canted in any way so I’m excited to try out this new style of pistol mag pouch.
The Esstac angled mag pouch uses a standard pistol mag pouch but has a hook and loop sewed into the back that includes 4 tabs to connect onto a belt. The tabs are slanted so when it is connected to a belt, the pistol pouch sits at an angle.
As it uses the same pistol mag style, you retain the same ease of use from the standard Esstac pistol mag pouches.
One thing of note, since the Esstac offset pistol pouch sits slanted, it takes up two molle tabs instead of one. You may need to adjust for this when setting up your belt.
—this is one improvement I wish they would make – letting two or more of the Esstac offset pouches overlap in some way so they take up less room.
When installing on a belt it is as easy as folding the tabs over the belt and connecting them. One a molle belt, this is not my recommend installation method though because it causes the inner and outer belt to no longer sit flush and you lose some of the rigidity between the two belts.
I found I needed to definitely train and practice with the Esstac angled mag pouches as I had only used the standard pouches in the past. I like how the angled mag pouches make the pistol mags much easier to grab onto and it’s much more intuitive to grab a very specific mag instead of “whatever is next in line.”
If I take my time and train with this method, I feel like I can be much more consistent and I’ll see a significant speed increase in reloads while also taking a solid bump to my consistency.
I highly recommend this one!….even though I’m bummed they no longer have kryptek mandrake to match my Daeodon.
