T.Rex Arms is a great company that offers tons of training and gear for those in the life preservation category. They are probably some of the best groups of people to watch on various social media. They don’t just talk the talk. They back that up with tons of great content and they are politically active on pro 2nd Amendment causes.

This AC1 carrier is something they designed to try and fit their company lifestyle.

There are some cool design elements on the plate bags that really shine while you are wearing it. The shoulder straps being sewn on to the back of the plate bag helps alleviate some potential pain from your chosen plates. This also allows some space for excess cordage to be stuffed into the plate bags.

The simple design of the carrier allows this to be one of the best concealing carriers we have tested so far. The addition of the flap on the back to secure the cummerbund may not be needed, but it gives me some peace of mind. The shoulder pads are practically useless and are only good for concealability, no real comfort.

However, you really need to use some thicker plates in these plate bags. I initially used some Battle Steel 10×12 level IIIA plates and they practically swim in these plate bags and make it seem like the plate bags just have too much fabric. If you decide to purchase this carrier, go for some thicker plates or the 10×13 Level IIIA plates from CROM USA.

The expandability is what you would expect from carriers in this low viz classification. Easy to attach a load bearing cummerbund and add a placard.

We end the video talking about pricing and this is the biggest failure of this carrier. It is just too expensive for what you get. The OTTE Gear is $30 less AND it comes with a placard. You can buy two LAPG carriers for the price of this one and I regularly see the Grey Ghost Gear Minimalist on sale for 1/3 or even 1/4 the price of the T.Rex Arms AC1 (depending on the color).
All of that is why this ended in last place for our low viz series.

We hope our review of the T.Rex Arms AC1 plate carrier was useful in your purchasing decisions.
