We got the sling out and I love the paracord design on the Ryker Sling and the really nice HK hooks used to connect the sling to the rifle. The paracord actually hides some bungee that works to pull the Ryker Sling tight to the body when you use it. You wouldn’t think it would be that big of a deal, but when combined with the Ryker Grip, it makes real magic happen.
When we first talked with Ryker about the Ryker Sling, the team let me know that there were some design discrepancies between their original prototype and the production version. They asked me to try the Ryker sling “as-is” but also provided me with some solid instructions on how to adjust the sling to the original design specifications. That way I can share with all the viewers how to adjust the Ryker Sling and get it perfect. And I’ll say….You’re going to be impressed.
As they thought, the initial sizing of the Ryker Sling was all wonky and needed adjustment. I followed their instructions and removed the middle segment to get the sling in a much better design. I also removed the HK hook because it seemed to just simplify the entire install and I instead connected it straight into a magpul QD. I also removed one of the sling buckles on the front of the sling. This gave me a little bit more room to adjust the Ryker Sling tightness. Now I can really cinch down the sling and it all locks into place and i have to do very little to maintain the weapon on target.
Additionally, the Ryker Sling can be stowed easily by placing the thumb adjustment over the Ryker Grip and then sliding the paracord portion of the sling under a ranger band on the butt stock. I was able to stow and deploy the Ryker Sling very quickly. I’m really struggling to find a negative on this thing now that I have it all sized and fixed perfectly.
Shooting it is a dream. The sling’s adjustment allows me to run it loose for a plate carrier or I can loosen or tighten the sling very quickly to keep the rifle against me comfortably. The biggest thing I think that makes this a next generation rifle sling is the bungee design. Being able to cinch up the sling while you’re on target just feels amazing. It makes the whole weapon system become integrated into your movements.
In having the Ryker Sling cinched up, you can make adjustments to your optics, clear malfunctions, access items on your plate carrier, or whatever else random you may need to do. It also provides the majority of support so the firing hand is left to rest without having to carry any of the weight of the rifle. The Ryker Sling then enables you to utilize a precision rifle style grip where you can be extremely controlled on a the trigger. By cinching up the Ryker Sling then, can then make adjustments on your optics but you will also be more accurate in putting those rounds down range as your body is supporting the weapon instead of your firing hand squeezing the grip trying to keep the gun supported.
