We went into this video with passionate optimism that we could use the new Sig AIR low profile reflex sight on our Sig Sauer Proforce M18 airsoft pistol. We ran into issue after issue in trying to use this optic.
At TLD we hope to advise our customers of products that should be avoided and the Sig AIR low profile reflex sight leaves a LOT to be desired.
The tools and the hardware to make the installation are extremely poor and that doesn’t even scratch the surface of the engineering design blunders.
The kit doesn’t include the tools you need to remove the old slide from the Sig Sauer Proforce m18 airsoft pistol. Make sure you use the exact correct tools though, otherwise the screws will strip immediately.
To install the new slide you need to use the rear iron sights as a cap to sandwich together the slide and the plate to form a secure fit. The HUGE glaring problem is that the rear sight then obstructs the set screws that lock the elevation and windage into position.
The sight then has to be taken OFF just to make a small adjustment then reinstalled. This makes adjustment almost impossible. PLus, you have to lock down the sight into position or the action of firing the Sig Sauer proforce m18 will cause the elevation and windage set screws on the Sig AIR low profile reflex sight to work themselves out.
This makes keeping your zero adjusted impossible as the screws themselves will move. In an additional blunder, once the red dot is set, the actual locking screws actually make a small adjustment on the emitter which causes it to shift slightly. So you need to adjust the red dot to a position that locking the set screws then move it into position.
This product is a pure lesson in frustration. All of the hardware and tools supplied are the worst quality possible. This is a toy you give to a child you don’t really like that much.
While the Sig AIR low profile reflex sight can be used a red dot training aid, you will have to suffer through horrible engineering product flaws in order to achieve any sort of training. There are much better ways to train than with this.
I had to glue the whole thing down just to keep it from moving so now it’s permanently installed.
Save yourself a day of drama…avoid this one.
