The T rex arms Orion belt is what is called a one piece belt. This means that the battle belt does not have an outer belt that connects into an inner belt system. You see a two part belt system with the Ronin Senshi or the Warrior poet society belt (Blue Alpha gear double molle belt).
So while it is a different style of belt, it does afford it’s own advantages and disadvantages. The T rex arms orion gives you a lot more flexibility and versatility in a battle belt. With the one piece belts the best setup is absolutely perfect. But that is its own downfall. If you throw on a coat or don’t have the correct belt, the entire setup starts to fall part. Plus I don’t like tucking in my shirt.
So the T rex arms orion battle belt is extremely versatile in that it allows the belt to be thrown over a jacket and donned very quickly and easily. This makes this belt idea for a go-bag or some sort of emergency response kit. It allows you to travel very light but also respond quickly so you can get out a potentially dangerous or hazardous situation.
The T rex arms orion, while a one piece belt, is actually formed with two belt parts. So when you order the Orion, you also need to order the T rex arms inner belt on the same page. Be aware if you run your own inner belt that it may not fit inside the inner channel of the Orion.
There are also a few nuances to be aware of as some belt attachment items connect via molle and some connect by threading the belt through them. This means you have to plan your belt setup in advance and any adjustment can be a bit of a pain. So think out how you want your T rex arms orion before you throw it together.
There are also some improvements we wish we saw and some ways we got around it. The Orion has a set of belt keepers but they are super hard to use and I never bother to connect it due to the sheer frustration. I do wish the belt keepers had the hook side pointed outward so I could interface with any of the other two part belts we use. To improve this we use a series of velcro one wraps along the length of the belt to form a strong connection if it used in conjunction with an inner belt system.
On my belt I have it setup with some mechanix fast fit gloves, that I don’t love very much. I also love the g-code holster because they can hold whatever I need for any sort of system I may be running. I also use the t rex arms dump pouch. The dump pouch is big and has a nice cover at the top to keep everything from spilling out. The t rex arms dump pouch also has a leg strap to keep it from flopping all over.
I also love the t rex arms medical pouch. It makes for quick and easy ambidextrous deployment, even if you’re inflexible like me. The safariland drop leg isn’t my favorite but it works with almost all clothing so I keep this on the belt for a versatile setup. Along with the Safariland QLS system, we can easily swap holsters between team members or from battle belt to battle belt.
