The Guardian by The Gunbox seems like more of an art piece than a gun safe. With its slick lines and aerodynamic look, it is a piece that is sure to draw eyes. Add on one of the sticker packs you can get and really customize this to be YOUR gun safe.
We first take some time to look at the outside of the box. The Shield emblem on the top is the power button and also doubles as the RFID scan area. The Guardian ships with two RFID cards, two RFID key FOBs, and two RFID stickers you can stick to a phone case or something else.
You also have this keypad that allows a 5–10-digit code. You kind of need to practice with this before programming your code. The system only allows a 5-second window to the programming window, so if you are not quick enough, you may not get that 10 digit code inputted in time.
Finally, you have a fingerprint reader and you can program up to 10 fingerprints into the system. This is great for a home that has a lot of trustworthy older kids or an office setting where you want to secure a firearm, but give multiple people access.
One thing to highlight about The Gunbox safes, they have a built-in battery so in the event of a power outage, you still have the ability to access the Guardian with no issues.
On the backside of The Guardian, you have a slot where you can use a typical laptop tether lock to secure The Guardian that way. You also have two USB ports that are powered when The Guardian is plugged into AC power.
When you open The Guardian, you’ll notice the shocks have a lot of force and they will liven the front of The Guardian up a little…even with a loaded firearm and an extra loaded magazine.
Inside there is some thin foam to help protect the finish of your firearm. You have the learn button to program new RFIDs, codes, and/or fingerprints. There is also a small LED light that provides just enough light to see what you need to see.
Finally, we take a look at the accessories you can purchase on The Gunbox website. From the different sticker packs to RFID wristbands and rings. There’s a lot of cool things to look for.
We hope our review of the The Guardian gun safe was useful in your purchasing decisions.
